Wondering if anyone could possibly give me a hand with kicking over my VW. New to the area and very hard to find anyone with any VW experience. I have a 65 VW, just put in a new rebuilt engine, fuel pump, complete wiring loom, starter and solenoid, to name a few things and just can't seem to kick it over. I've tried setting the timing but maybe I'm just missing something. Would really appreciate someone who has a good base of knowledge to help me out. I live in the Summerville area off 176 and hwy 17 (Cane Bay Plantation). Would like to start taking it to the LCVWC monthly gatherings.

Its 6v and it is cranking. I've tried to set the timing on the distributor with a static light but it still won't kick over. I'm at the point of towing it in to a shop but was hoping to avoid that expense because its probably something small that I'm just not seeing that an maybe some one else might.

Has the engine run before?  Any chance the plug wires are wrong?

The engine has run before and i have replaced all plugs and gapped them. Have rotated the new spark plug wires on the distributor all the way around and tried them in every position on the dist. cap
